Crash pads
Crash pads, the essential safety gear
No matter how skilled you are at climbing, you’ve likely experienced a fall during one of your bouldering sessions at Fontainebleau. Thankfully, there was a Crash pad! Bouldering is done without a belay system. There’s no need for ropes, harnesses, or carabiners, but it’s out of the question to venture out without your crash pad. While falls are rarely higher than 5 metres, they can still be quite harsh. Therefore, it’s crucial to have this kind of portable mat positioned correctly to soften the impact and prevent injuries. Not only is the Crash pad an indispensable safety accessory, but it can also significantly aid your performance. Knowing that a good Crash pad is placed beneath the boulder allows you to climb more confidently and take on riskier holds without hesitation.
