Your headlamp will serve you in all your expeditions
"Doubt has two sides: the side of light and the side of darkness," wrote Honoré de Balzac in the Human Comedy. Are you feeling lost in the vast market of headlamps & head torches ? Fear not, choosing a trail headlamp or running headlamp is to choose to step into the light, regardless of the powerful headlamp you select. Light will indeed combat the darkness, and you will only need to assert yourself as a leader when night falls like a thick veil of ink over the wildest landscapes you traverse. Whether you are a fan of trail or classic running, you will find yourself running when the sun has already set. During winter training or a night trail, having a running headlamp or trail headlamp will allow you to see the obstacles on your path and also ensure you are visible. The professional headlamp, besides being an essential element of a runner's kit, can protect you from unwanted encounters, whatever they may be. Functional and ensuring your safety, it should not be overlooked during a night outing. We invite you to discover all its specifics and the criteria that will determine the trail headlamp or running headlamp you choose.
With a trail headlamp, the run never stops!
Reaching the finish line will certainly take you several hours, and the start may be at night. To begin your trail at dawn and arrive at sunrise, you need to be well-lit, and that requires purchasing a functional trail headlamp. Whatever your need, it is unwise not to keep a clear view of your surroundings or where you place your feet and hands. Watch out for falls, twisted ankles, and little critters that might come to bother you! While summer sunlight is sufficient, darkness falls early in winter, and you will quickly be surprised by the night. Therefore, you should always have a powerful trail headlamp handy, suited to your running practice.
The running headlamp will guide both your head and your legs
During your next run, whether in the city or the countryside, you will need to equip yourself with a running headlamp with specific qualities. Times have changed: the current running headlamp is nothing like the candle! The running headlamp has been specially developed and now boasts unmatched autonomy. With a multitude of new technologies, it can sometimes be difficult to navigate. We therefore propose to determine all the selection criteria for a running headlamp.
How to choose your trail and running headlamp wisely?
First, you will need to determine what type of charging method you plan to use for your trail headlamp or your running headlamp. Currently, you can find a wide range of rechargeable headlamps on the market and on Hardloop.fr that charge with solar energy, via a USB port, or with rechargeable batteries. The USB rechargeable headlamp is very popular on the market, and it’s easy to see why: few people go on a long sporting trip without bringing a technological device.
We advise you to opt for a LED headlamp, which will prevent overheating and offer greater autonomy for the athlete. However, you will need to determine what type of lighting you will need, which varies depending on your sporting practice. In the context of trail-running, we recommend choosing a trail headlamp or running headlamp that has a focused beam to concentrate the light for long-distance illumination. With a focused beam, you will be able to spot obstacles from afar and prepare to face them.
What about the power of your running headlamp or trail headlamp? The power unit, "lumens", determines whether your headlamp will be a powerful headlamp or not. You will find headlamps on the market with 50 lumens and others exceeding 700 lumens. Again, it all depends on your practice. If you prefer long and challenging trails, you will need more power than a runner who exclusively runs on roads.
You can then look into the waterproof rating of your running headlamp or trail headlamp. These will indeed have a waterproof rating of IPX4 or IPX6. An IPX4 trail headlamp will effectively protect you against water splashes from all directions, while an IPX6 running headlamp will protect you against more significant water projections.
