Men's Fleece Jackets: Comfort for Every Adventure
The ultimate warm and comfortable jacket, the Men's Fleece Jackets are a must-have in every wardrobe. Perfect for both the mountains and the city, fleece comes in many styles and performances to suit everyone's needs and desires. Naturally, it has the advantage of retaining warmth without absorbing moisture. At Hardloop, we have selected a wide range of fleeces to wear before, during, or after your activity. All equipped with excellent insulation properties, they can be worn as a main layer or as a second layer under a waterproof jacket or a hardshell jacket, for example. The primary feature of fleece is that it is made with hollow fibres that allow each strand to trap air, acting as an insulator. The first jackets with such characteristics were invented in 1981 by the brand Polartec, revolutionising the way we dress. Today, Polartec® fabrics are used by most major outdoor brands, who also create their own synthetic fleece materials. Millet fleeces, such as the Trilogy Lightgrid Hoodie, or Patagonia fleeces benefit from this technology, for example.
Men's Fleece Jackets: Technical and High-Performance Products
To find the fleece that best suits your needs, it's important to know that there are three types, differing in their weight (density), which is the primary indicator of warmth level. A lightweight fleece will have a weight of 100 g/m² and is suitable for milder temperatures or intense activities like ski touring. Essential to have at the bottom of your bag, they are compact and breathable. The next range, the midweight fleeces, have a weight of 200 g/m². They are suitable for moderate activities in cold weather. The Ortovox Fleece Jacket falls into this category. Placed under a Gore-Tex jacket, it fully serves its purpose as a thermal layer, just like a men's down jacket. Finally, the thickest fleece jackets, known as heavyweight, have a weight of over 300 g/m², such as the Patagonia Retro Pile Jacket. Perfect for activities in extreme cold or when you're less active, they can also be worn alone if conditions allow. Of course, they are heavier than their lighter counterparts!
