Deuter: since 1898, a passion for quality products
The story of the Deuter brand began in 1898 when Hans Deuter established the "Mechanical Canvas and Linen Mill" in Bavaria, producing postal bags. Gradually, in the following years, the company diversified and began producing tents and backpacks. The customers were not yet outdoor enthusiasts, but the quality of the products gained many followers, particularly among the armed forces. In 1928, the first connection with the mountains appeared following the Pamir expedition by explorer Willi Rickmer, who used Deuter backpacks, tarps, and tents among other gear. A few years later, the brand's products proved their worth on the Eiger and on peaks over 8,000 m, including Nanga Parbat in 1953 by Hermann Buhl. The company officially became what we know today in 1957 with the creation of the public limited company "Deuter Industriewerke AG-Augsburg".
Deuter: technical products for the outdoors
Passionate about the mountains and vast spaces, Deuter aims to create the most technical products possible so that every adventurer can enjoy their adventures in good conditions. Driven by its pioneering spirit, Deuter seeks to forge new paths and therefore pursues innovation that makes a difference and facilitates your adventure. The brand has been the source of many innovations since its inception and constantly seeks to take on new challenges and push boundaries.
The brand created the first nylon backpack on the market in 1966, which quickly became a reference in the market. A few years later, in 1971, Deuter became the market leader in the Federal Republic of Germany thanks to its production of backpacks, suitcases, and bags. The brand continued to innovate, and in 1984, the Deuter Aircomfort system was born, a revolution in the backpack market optimizing carrying comfort and breathability with a mesh back. Always looking to diversify, Deuter entered a new market in 1990 and created its first bike backpack, the Bike 1. A few years later, the first sleeping bag from the brand was launched. A brand focused on innovation since its beginnings, Deuter is truly a reference today for hiking, climbing, and skiing enthusiasts thanks to its backpacks and its famous child carrier, the Kid Comfort, which has become the go-to equipment for family adventures.
