The Opinel N°8 Stainless Steel Knife is the ideal knife for camping, fishing, or picnicking.
Its Yatagan blade made of Sandvik stainless steel is the traditional blade of Opinel knives, recognizable by its upturned tip inspired by a Turkish saber. The blade ground with an exclusive convex profile ensures its robustness and allows for effective resharpening.
We appreciate its handle made of beechwood from French forests, which is easy to maintain and protected by a varnish.
Its Virobloc locking mechanism allows you to keep the knife folded for safe travel or in a secure open position during use.
Versatile, robust, and efficient, the Opinel N°8 Stainless Steel Knife is the knife for purists.

Technologies Used:
Sandvik Stainless Steel: The modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel developed for Opinel is renowned for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. Stainless steel capable of undergoing heat treatment to achieve good hardness is called martensitic. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40%, which allows for a very satisfactory cutting edge without being prone to corrosion.
Yatagan Blade: The traditional Opinel blade is called a Yatagan blade. Its shape is inspired by a Turkish saber, with an upturned tip. The blade is ground with an exclusive convex profile that ensures the blade's robustness and allows for effective resharpening.
Handle: Beechwood is the most commonly used wood for Opinel handles. Sourced from French forests, it is hard, durable, and easy to work with. With a homogeneous appearance, its light color ranges from yellow to pink. It is recognizable by the presence of numerous small dark streaks. The handle is varnished to better protect against moisture and dirt.
Safety Ring: Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring equips all folding knives from N°06 onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (for safety during use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (for safe transport).
