The story of the Millet brand began nearly a century ago, with the creation of their first shopping bags with straps in the 1920s. With its success, the brand continued to develop and launched its first fully nylon backpack in 1964, much lighter than cotton and, above all, waterproof. It wasn't until 1977 that Millet ventured into mountain clothing by offering its first parka with a Gore-Tex membrane, as well as its first range of technical down jackets. This diversification into mountain clothing led to numerous alpine exploits. In 1978, Reinhold Messner joined the Millet team and achieved the first ascent without oxygen of the world's highest mountain that same year with his Millet jacket. In 1982, it was time for climbing, with the brand's first textile collection and the famous climber Edlinger joining the team. This was followed in 1987 by the trilogy of the Alps, with the sequence of the legendary north faces of the Eiger, Matterhorn, and Grandes Jorasses by Christophe Profit and Eric Escoffier, a major feat at the end of the 20th century. After mountaineering, the brand invested in freeride with the first complete descent of the Tibetan side of Everest by Marco Siffredi in 2001. And Millet did not stop there in the discipline of ski.
