It was 1938 in the Dolomites, Northern Italy, when Scarpa was born. An acronym for “Società Calzaturiera Asolana Riunita Pedemontana Anonima”, it means “associated shoe manufacturing company from the mountainous region of Asolo”. Originally, Scarpa aimed to bring together the best shoemakers in the area to create the finest mountain shoes of the time. Alongside this, Scarpa is also the story of Luigi Parisotto. A shoemaker immersed in the craft from the age of 11, he was only 13 when he began working for Scarpa. Gradually, he established his own company, S. Giorgio, with his brothers in 1950, offering shoes that were both comfortable and robust, selling them to local farmers. After several years of hard work, saving money, and with the help of his family, he proposed to buy Scarpa in 1956. The acquisition took place, and Luigi Parisotto quickly managed to grow the company in the Asolo region. Year after year, through innovation, the company succeeded in exporting to the United States in 1965. Five years later, Scarpa developed the Vega model, a mountaineering shoe that would become popular and be worn on major expeditions in the Himalayas, Antarctica, and even by the Spanish, Italian, and French armies. In constant pursuit of innovation, Scarpa was the first brand to integrate Gore-Tex membranes into its shoes and introduced versatile telemark shoes of a new kind. Meanwhile, the development of Scarpa Climbing Shoes remains an important part of the company. A continuing family passion brings us today to the descendants of Luigi Parisotto at the helm of the company. Offering equipment for hiking, trekking, mountaineering, climbing, skiing, and even alpine/trail running, the brand aims to be versatile in mountain sports. However, the brand is highly committed to climbing and offers well-recognized Scarpa Climbing Shoes in the field. Established in the United States since 2005, the brand continues its development on the American continent, and there is no doubt that their story will not end tomorrow; it remains to be seen how far they can go. At the intersection of a passion for sport and footwear, performance is born, initiated by Scarpa!
The field of climbing generates strong interest for the Italian brand; indeed, Scarpa Climbing Shoes are highly refined and available for a wide range of activities and levels. Thanks to their meticulous development process, they are known for providing Scarpa Climbing Shoes for both beginners and expert climbers. Depending on your practice, you can find Scarpa Climbing Shoes for bouldering, Scarpa Climbing Shoes for competitions, or even versatile Scarpa Climbing Shoes. To choose Scarpa Climbing Shoes suited to your practice, it is also essential to consider your level. From one shoe to another, many parameters can change, starting with the camber, the quality of the rubber, or the tightening system. A Velcro tightening system is the most versatile and practical for Scarpa Climbing Shoes. A lacing system, on the other hand, will take longer to put on and take off but will provide a more precise fit and be better suited for very narrow or wide feet. Regarding the camber of Scarpa Climbing Shoes, we can differentiate three types: no camber, medium camber, and high camber. The more cambered the shoe, the more technical and precise its use is, reserved for skilled climbers. Concerning the soles, they are all made of rubber, and their hardness changes depending on your level. For Scarpa Climbing Shoes, most soles are made of Vibram for quality grip. The choice of hardness will depend partly on your practice but also, and above all, on your sensations. Generally, a softer shoe is recommended for bouldering or overhangs, and it is advisable to prioritize testing to form your own opinion on the sensations felt. Finally, let’s not overlook the asymmetry of the shoe. The more asymmetrical the shoe, the more strength you will gain on your big toe, allowing you to climb difficult routes. Gaining strength will require sacrificing comfort, which is why the most asymmetrical Scarpa Climbing Shoes are reserved for experts.
At Hardloop, we have selected a wide range of Scarpa Climbing Shoes to suit all feet and all uses.
