Walking & Hiking Trousers
The hiking trousers, a must-have for trekkers!
When you decide to embark on a trek, whether short or long, for a few days or months, being well-equipped with sturdy and high-performance walking & hiking trousers is already a step towards success. An integral part of a trekker's gear, the hiking trousers will save you in case of rain, wind, or cold, protecting your legs from the elements. It is important to choose a trekking trouser that you feel comfortable in to walk with ease!
Hiking trousers: waterproof, windproof, warm, breathable
Depending on your activity, you will need different qualities for your hiking trousers. For high mountains, you will need a waterproof hiking trouser that is also breathable and stretchy to adapt to your movements. For coastal hikes or mid-mountain treks, a lightweight hiking trouser will be very pleasant as it is not only windproof and water-repellent but also stretchy. In cold weather, a winter hiking trouser with a comfortable warm lining made of Primaloft or another fleece material will be ideal for facing the harshest conditions. Therefore, we offer a wide selection of hiking trousers and trekking trousers on Hardloop to accompany you on all your adventures.
Choosing your hiking trousers wisely
Depending on the duration of your upcoming trek, the difficulty of it (significant positive and negative elevation), and the season you plan to walk in, you will not choose the same hiking trousers! If you are undertaking your trek in winter or when temperatures are very low, we recommend choosing a fleece-lined trekking trouser or one made from a thick brushed fabric. If you decide to embark on a difficult trek during the summer when temperatures are milder, opt for a synthentic fabric walking trouser, offering better breathability. It also has the advantage of drying quickly, thus avoiding any sensation of cold. There are also convertible hiking shorts that can be transformed into shorts or trousers with a zip at the thigh in the blink of an eye! Above all, you must feel comfortable in your trekking trousers. They should not hinder your movements, whether you need to step over obstacles, climb a steep slope, or bend down. Your hiking trousers should be robust and durable, as you will encounter many obstacles on the trail that will come into direct contact with your trekking clothing and may cause snags. Furthermore, prefer a Gore-Tex hiking trouser (often the case for most synthetic fabric trousers). If it rains, your waterproof hiking trouser will protect your legs from moisture. You will not get cold and will brave the natural elements without difficulty. Make sure to choose a hiking trouser with flat seams to avoid friction against the skin (which can be uncomfortable and irritating over time). Lastly, an important point is the presence of pockets and other accessories! If you like to store your keys, tissues, compass, or mobile phone, it may be useful to choose a trekking trouser with pockets, whether large or small, at the hips, back, or on the side of the leg. This will save you the hassle of putting down your trekking backpack to find or store your personal items.
Trekking trousers, a choice suited to your body shape
Because there are no unisex trekking backpacks, the same goes for hiking trousers. Ladies and gentlemen, choose the fit of your women's hiking trousers or men's hiking trousers that suits your body shape! Women's trekking trousers tend to offer fitted cuts that perfectly hug the silhouette for increased comfort. Men's trekking trousers also provide a fit that suits the male physique.
