Hiking Shorts
The hiking shorts, a perfect blend of comfort and breathability
The blazing sun casts its rays on your legs covered by trousers, and you curse yourself for not having adopted a hiking shorts before your departure? Often overlooked, the hiking shorts is not a recent invention! To the question "Did the Bermuda shorts originate in Bermuda?", the answer is definitely yes, as they were created for the needs of British army colonists in the 19th century to better cope with the heat. The hiking shorts thus has a rich history and still serves the same purpose today: allowing your legs to bask in the sun and cool off with the fresh air. The hiking bermuda is therefore a must-have for any hiker, which we invite you to discover in all its aspects.
How to choose your hiking shorts
The sun has always been at the center of our beliefs and customs, and those who enjoy trekking, opting for a hiking shorts, will tell you the same. For Albert Camus, the sun is the most important element of our daily lives. For trekking, the sun offers numerous opportunities such as breathtaking views of valleys below, or the chance to wear your finest men's hiking shorts to tan your legs and let them breathe. Airing out your legs indeed contributes to good recovery. When temperatures rise and your trekking shorts are overheating, we recommend opting for a model with UV protection. The women's hiking bermuda Spry Capri from Eider, for example, is equipped with this UV technology, highly recommended if you embark on one of the 12 longest treks in the world or a trek under a scorching sun like the GR20 trek.
If you plan to do the Tour of Mont Blanc in the summer, you might want to keep your phone or camera handy to show off the most beautiful alpine landscapes to your loved ones. In this specific case, heading out with a model of hiking shorts with zippered pockets will prove particularly useful.
If you want to travel very light and take only the bare minimum in hiking gear, consider a hiking bermuda with a drawstring. With this type of model, there's no need to equip yourself with a trekking belt. However, in case of strenuous activity or regular intense practices, we recommend avoiding this type of model, which can sometimes be restrictive, and opting for a technical hiking shorts, made from innovative materials that can withstand the hottest temperatures and the most impressive weather conditions. If you plan to fulfill your teenage dream and fly to Nepal to trek the Annapurna Circuit, you can rely on the durability of a technical trek shorts: your annapurna trek shorts are therefore all set!
Ladies, you can also opt for a hiking skort to maintain a feminine style while having a practical and functional technical garment for your great hike.
