Petzl Carabiners
Petzl, between carabiners and climbing gear
The story of Petzl began in the 1960s with Fernand Petzl, a passionate caving enthusiast and ingenious craftsman. Driven by a constant desire to improve the equipment he used, he imagined increasingly innovative tools in his workshop to explore the depths. In 1968, he marketed his first equipment, including Petzl carabiners and officially founded the company shortly thereafter. Based in Crolles, near Grenoble and the mountains, the brand specializes in mountaineering gear, safety equipment, and headlamps. Today, thanks to years of innovation and development, the brand offers a complete range of Petzl harnesses, Petzl ropes, and Petzl climbing gear of all kinds. Among them are the Petzl carabiners. With quality validated by numerous certifications and tested in the lab and on the field, they are developed to be as ergonomic and reliable as possible in the field. The Am'D carabiner, for example, is asymmetric and features a more functional D shape for connecting a belay system or storing gear. Its ergonomics and Keylock system make handling easier, even with Petzl gloves.
A Petzl carabiner for every use
All equipped with the Keylock system, Petzl carabiners vary in terms of shapes, sizes, and locking systems to meet different possible uses. Thus, the Attache carabiner features a screw lock, is compact and lightweight in a pear shape. Designed for use with a belayer, descender, or for making anchors, it allows for easy setup or removal of a clove hitch. On the other hand, the Ange S progression carabiner is intended for protection during climbing. Compact and ultra-lightweight, it facilitates the climber's movements. Another variant, the Spirit carabiner is more versatile for sport climbing and route work. For all vertical outings, whether in alpine climbing, ski touring, or via ferrata, a few carabiners and quickdraws clipped to the loops of your harness are never too many.
